The Spring and Summer seasons are full of colour and can be a great inspiration for crafts. From the green trees and grass to brightly coloured insects and flowers, there are so many beautiful colours to admire. To celebrate these vibrant colours, we’re going to make some of our own flowers out of one of our favourite materials… CONSTRUCTION PAPER!
1) Use a pencil to trace out the petals and centers (called pistils) of your flowers. We can use our craft sticks as a straightedge to make our marks. We can choose our own design by changing the thickness of our petals. Once we have all of your parts traced out, we can use our craft scissors to cut them all out!
2) Once all of our petals and pistils are cut out, we can start gluing our flowers together. To start, we will take each of our petals and fold them over, gluing the tips together.
3) With our petals all folded and glued together, we can now glue them to the pistil. Glue them around the pistil, putting some space between each petal.
4) Our final step is to glue our stem. Use a glue stick to attach the stem to the back of the pistil. If you like, you can decorate your craft stick by colouring it, or even adding some leaves.
Congratulations! You have just made your own Construction Paper Flower! How many different types of flowers can you create!
