Craft Instructions

1) First, you are going to take your construction paper and make your design. We made two designs; a funky dot lantern, and a mountain range. If you want a tall lantern, create your picture with the long edge on the side and fold your page across the center. For a shorter lantern, create your picture with the long edge along the top and bottom and fold it across the long way. You want to create your picture before you start folding and cutting the paper.

2) Once your image is done, fold the paper in half so you can make your cuts with the scissors. Once its folded, cut vertically starting at the folded point.

3) Now unfold your lantern and glue the edges together. Make sure your edges overlap so they stick together well. If you want your lantern pieces to stick out more, you can push down on the top of your lantern. Once they are glued together, use a pencil to create holes for your string.
