Every year Scholar’s Choice offers a fun and unique way for kids to learn about life, growth and the world around them. In the early spring Scholar’s offers educators and parents an opportunity to raise Painted Lady Butterflies. Children can observe the life cycle from caterpillars, all the way up until they sprout wings and are ready to fly off on their own.
To celebrate spring and everything it brings, let’s make our OWN caterpillars using some glue, pom pons and construction paper!
1) First, we need to make a home for our caterpillar out of construction paper. We used green construction paper and used a green marker to make a leaf for it to live on.
We used orange and black, just like our Painted Lady Butterfly caterpillars.
3) Now we will use our white glue and add a small dab of glue to the bottom of our caterpillar’s head. Then glue the head to your leaf.
4) Next, we will take our glue and glue the eyes to our caterpillar’s head.
Congratulations! You have just made your own fuzzy caterpillar friend. Do you like multi-coloured caterpillars or just one colour? How many fun coloured patterns and construction paper homes can you create?
