Time to pull out our devices and settle back in

For a third indeterminate spell of online learning

We know for the classroom, many of us are yearning

Because it isn’t easy at all to go back and forth

To know that where you personally want to be appears to have little worth

That someone else is deciding what happens

And we will likely be home until the curve flattens

Never knowing what tomorrow will bring

Hoping this will change before the end of spring

So we don’t end another grade like we did last year

Saying goodbye over a device, not at all near

Students will miss their friends and recess interactions

Teachers, their colleagues, classrooms and in person teaching passions

Because yes, we can pivot: teach and learn online

But that doesn’t mean, we are all doing fine

Online is a challenge for everyone’s mental health

Which must be valued above much else

There will always be time to catch up on Math and Language

We need to take time to appreciate all the COVID baggage

Recognizing safety is priority number one

While desperately trying not to come undone

Knowing that there will be an end to the sadness

A time when we can be back in schools, each and every day

With certainty that routine won’t be taken away

So kids can be kids, maskless and without fear

And brighter days can be seen - optimistic and clear

So this time around, we will continue to do our best

Remembering this is putting us all to the test

Look after ourselves, family and friends

Because loved ones are what matters in the end

So turn on that screen and get ready for round three

It will be a lot of fun, of that I personally guarantee
