The Story...
These are five words that Canadians of a certain age will never forget. And never should forget. Paul Henderson had scored the winning goal for Canada against the Russians in the 1972 Summit Series. The goal, rightfully so, has been deemed “The Goal of the Century”, Paul’s Jersey became “The Greatest Jersey Ever”, and, for Canadian Hockey fans, this moment became the greatest “I remember where I was” moment in our sporting history.
This year marks the 45th Anniversary of this moment, voted Canada’s #1 sports moment over the last 150 years. To commemorate this historic milestone along with Canada’s 150th birthday, “The Greatest Jersey Ever” children’s book was launched. The book is dedicated to passing on the legacy of the historic Summit Series to the next generation of Canadian youth.

The story of The Greatest Jersey Ever follows a brother and sister as they re-live the moments of the ‘72 Summit Series as told by their grandparents. It covers the highs and lows of the series, from falling short of Canada’s expectations and disappointing a country, to one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. “Our goal was to bring together Canadians of all generations, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren,” Paul Henderson commented, “we want this to be something that families can share with each other”.
The Contest...
In this spirit, and to celebrate the release of this book at Scholar’s Choice, we are running “The Greatest Contest Ever”.
As this is such a memorable moment in Canadian sporting history, we want to hear what it means to you! To enter, tell us where you were when the goal happened. If you’re too young to remember, ask your parents or grandparents to tell you about their memory of this historic event!
How to Enter
To enter, fill in the form below. One lucky entrant will be selected to win “The Greatest Paul Henderson Prize Pack” which includes a jersey autographed by Paul Henderson, an autographed "The Greatest Jersey Ever" book, Paul Henderson's "Goal of Life" book, DVD's of the '72 Summit Series, and a poster. There will be three (3) second place prize packs which will each include a jersey and an autographed "The Greatest Jersey Ever" book. Six (6) third place prizes of an autographed "The Greatest Jersey Ever" book will also be awarded.
